STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Francisco Loor said South Fin Grill is at Stage 1 of reopening on the boardwalk for its 15th season. Gradually the South Beach eatery gets back into the flow after a year of closure due to COVID-19.

Now on the menu are freshly ground sirloin burgers, a five-part spring salad tossed with roasted golden beets and goat cheese plus an appetizer of grilled California artichokes with aioli dipping sauce.

Monkey Bar, a new outdoor bar and lounge serving cocktails and small bites, opened earlier this month at the Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley.

The new bar specializes in craft cocktails and Asian-inspired shareable plates, with items such as sticky short ribs, shrimp shu mai, lamb meatball, burger and wood-fired pizzas. Monkey Bar is hosting happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays with select $5 wine and beer, a $7 Drunken Monkey cocktail and $9 pizzas. Live music is presented from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays.

Flying Pig Pub & Kitchen, a popular Oceanside restaurant that marked its 10th anniversary this month, is pulling up stakes this weekend for a move to a new location three-quarters of a mile to the north in downtown Oceanside.

Flying Pig’s last day at its longtime location at 626 S. Tremont St. is Sunday. Owners Roger “Roddy” Browning and his wife, Aaron Browning, have purchased a new building at 509 Mission Aven., where they plan to reopen their restaurant on June 1.

Tieghan Gerard, the creator of the popular food blog Half Baked Harvest, found herself in hot water after posting a “quick” noodle recipe that she incorrectly called “pho.”

The popular recipe creator shared a noodle soup recipe to her blog titled “Weeknight ginger pho ga (Vietnamese chicken soup)” in February.
