Lee County told the owners of a food truck on Pine Island they needed to close down, and community members are unhappy about it.

People lined up Wednesday to get one last taste of authentic Mexican food at El Viejon Taco food truck on Pine Island.

The owners of El Viejon Taco told us zoning for Pine Island Road does not permit food trucks.

With tears in her eyes, co-owner Cahroy Garcia said all she wants is to continue serving her community and doesn’t understand why she was allowed to operate the last four months.

Two restaurants temporarily closed because of serious health violations found in Fort Worth health inspections last week, according to the health department.

Blue Goose Cantina and House of Pho both closed after inspections conducted between May 16 and May 22.

Blue Goose Cantina, at 1600 S. University Drive, had 21 health violations, including the unspecified violation requiring the establishment to close. A popular Florida restaurant will close its doors for the remainder of spring break amid concerns of further damage to the location following fights there.

The popular Miami Beach party spot, the Clevelander Hotel, has seen fights break out over the past week as crowds try to cram in during peak hours.

Andiamo Dearborn restaurant, in business for 17 years, is closing for good on Sunday after losing $3 million during the pandemic.

Owner Joe Vicari, who runs more than 20 restaurants as a part of the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group, notified employees about the closure on Thursday afternoon. The 60 full- and part-time employees have the option to take employment at another Vicari location, he said.

“Whoever wants to do that, I’ll allow it,” Vicari said. “They were appreciative of that.”

The restaurateur said the pandemic-related closures, “pauses” and in-person capacity limits were too much for the location to fight off.
