As of Friday, Sacramento’s Restaurant Week is officially on — but it’s a lot simpler this year.

“Sacramento Restaurant Week, it’s a gift card promotion, and what we’re doing is, we basically have 40 restaurants that are participating, and so their fans can go to Cravesac.com and they can purchase gift cards at a 10% discount,” said Jeremy Groebel of Jack’s Urban Eats.

Restaurant week will also last longer this year. Since restaurants don’t officially reopen to full capacity without restrictions until June 15, restaurant week will last through the 20th this year, but online only.

Participating restaurants also don’t pay out of pocket for the extra 10 % they’re giving away — Sponsors take care of that portion.

“The City of Sacramento, SMUD, Jackson Valley Wines, Visit Sacramento. We got some great people on board to help us cover that 10% discount so the restaurants can get the full value of those gift cards,” Groebel said.

Other restaurants across town are offering their own deals on top of the gift card offer.

“Anyone can come to our restaurant and get 15% off for restaurant week on our entire menu,” said Saif Aslam, owner of Falafel Corner in downtown Sacramento.

Aslam said it’s important to support all your favorite local restaurants right now.

Sacramento restaurants aren’t the only ones participating. Diners also have restaurant options in Elk Grove, Folsom and Roseville to choose from.
