CHICAGO — SnackFutures, the innovation and venture hub of Mondelez International, Inc., has joined the Upcycled Food Association, a non-profit organization focused on reducing food waste.

Asheville’s food scene has always generated plenty of news, though COVID-19 seems to have accelerated a flurry of changes. 

More than two dozen restaurants and bars have closed in Asheville in the past year. It’s not all bad news, however, and some businesses have moved in to fill the gaps.

An Arby’s restaurant has closed for the second time in less than a month because of an outbreak of foodborne illnesses among its customers. Health officials say the pathogen involved is norovirus, which is notoriously hard to eradicate. 

More than 90 people have reported becoming ill after eating at the Springfield, IL, Arby’s location. The first illnesses were reported in mid-February, spurring the first temporary closure of the restaurant for cleaning.
