It hasn’t been a great start to the year for pet food manufacturers. First there was a recall of Midwestern Pet Foods products, and earlier in March, we got word that Bravo had recalled its Ground Beef and Performance Dog products due to potentially harmful bacteria contamination concerns.

Bravo’s recall was initially issued following an FDA inspection that found traces of Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The

Phil Smith first tried kombucha a decade ago, sampling a batch that his friend’s mom had brewed at home. He fell in love with the “tangy, effervescent flavor.”

So for the past seven years, he’s worked on perfecting his own home brew method, fermenting tea with fresh fruits and herbs to create a crisp, fizzy beverage.

Now he’s sharing those beverages with Tampa.

SAN ANTONIO – A food mart on the city’s East Side failed a health inspection last month after racking up a long list of violations that included food being stored next to chemicals.

Walters Food Mart, located in the 2100 block of Burnet Street, scored a 67 and was ordered to go through a re-inspection after a list of write-ups that also included engine coolant being kept near single-use items.

The establishment also had a clogged sink and food debris was found on a cheese slicer, Metropolitan Health records show.
